Seeing out the old year with a bang. Welcoming the new year in style. Here at Gleneagles, we believe in creating the very best start to your New Year, so our Hogmanay celebrations are a grand three-day event, planned to be an exciting end to one year and an unashamedly sumptuous introduction to the next.
Each year we plan our – or Hogmanay, as we say in Scotland – so that there are activities and events to suit everyone at all times of the day. With everything on offer from ice skating to our famous Black Tie New Year’s Eve party, there are boundless amounts of enjoyment and excitement for the whole family to enjoy.
Our main New Year festivities start on the 30th of December, with activities for the kids and some entertaining activities for everyone else, before the day’s main events kick off. For the remainder of the day there are a range of activities, with many going on down on our custom built ice rink – such as lessons with former Olympic coaches and performances from some of today’s skating stars – and others in the hotel, like ceramic classes and a wine tasting. We start the evening with a fireworks display, to get everyone in a festive mood before retreating back indoors for a lavish dinner and entertainment from the fantastic a cappella group The Magnets. Late into the evening there will be music in The Bar.
For families coming to stay, we have the fantastic Gleneagles Talent Academy, lasting from the 30th through to the 1st of January, it is a chance for kids of all ages to take part in different dance and theatre activities, have some fun and meet some new friends.
As the last day of the year dawns, we have another day of exciting activities lined up for you. With our activities Schools taking centre stage today, we have sessions down at the to introduce you to polo or to own your very own pony for the day; whilst over at the there is air rifle shooting. For those who want to wrap up warm and explore the grounds a little more, our treasure hunt is a great way to get the kids outside to run around for a while. Throughout the afternoon we will also have Scottish country dancing lessons taking place, if you think you could do with a little practice for later on in the evening.
