The Italian Market is Halifax's premiere destination for all things Italian with the most extensive array of Italian food products east of Montréal.
The compay was founded in 1994 by Nathan (Gus) Abato as a small wholesale delivery business supplying Italian food products to restaurants in Halifax. Now in business for over twenty years, The Italian Market has grown to include a grocery store and deli, eat-in and takeout restaurant, catering services and bakery. With a large and talented team of culinary, pastry and deli staff, who all share a passion for Italian food and quality ingredients, guests can relive fond memories of culinary adventures in Italy, or experience them for the first time, in the North End of Halifax.
In December of 2014 a new Kiosk location was opened in the heart of Halifax's business district in Barrington Place. Here guests can experience "Italy on the Pedway" for lunches, place catering orders for home and office, or pick up a meal or dessert to enjoy at home.
