Halifax Waterfront

Discover the Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market, the oldest continuously operating farmers’ market in North America, and our seafaring history through exhibits at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic which include displays on the city’s link to the Titanic disaster. End at the timber-frame & stone warehouses of Historic Properties – originally built to safeguard booty captured by legalized pirates called privateers - and grab a spot on the patio at The Lower Deck Pub or find a spot inside to take in live local musical performances.
Harbour Tours
Halifax Harbour boat tours range from evening cruises aboard the Tall Ship Silva or a gracious dinner aboard the Harbour Queen to kayaking tours. Families will love to climb aboard the Harbour Hopper, an amphibious vehicle that meanders past downtown points-of-interest before splashing into the harbour and will also love to tour the 'big harbour' aboard Theodore Too, a bright yellow 'boy' tugboat who wears a cheerful expression and a jaunty red cap. For a view of the beautiful Halifax skyline, hop aboard a Halifax Transit ferry and tour across harbour on North America's oldest, continuous, salt-water passenger ferry service in North America.

There’s lots to do at any time of the year in Halifax, but music, arts, culture, street performance and food festivals take the entertainment level up a notch or three. Large events, such as the RBC Multicultural Festival, Halifax International Busker Festival, Atlantic Film Festival's Outdoor Film Experience and the TD Halifax Jazz Festival keep our waterfront humming throughout the spring, summer and fall year after year.

There’s a lot to discover in Halifax, and that can make any voyager hungry. The city’s downtown restaurant scene continues to heat up, as celebrated chefs draw on their global expertise and the harvests of local farmers to create unique culinary offerings.
