Obituary:

Margaret Geraldine Mason, age 78, of Lunenburg County, world traveller, bibliophile, cinephile, Tai Chi instructor, needle worker, artist, collector of beautiful objects, cherished friend, aspiring writer, beloved sister, doting grandmother, loving mother, devoted wife of 53 years, studied eccentric, and self-described "obscure housewife, " died suddenly but peacefully" on March 25, 2016 of complications after injuring herself in a fall.

Her father died when she was 20 and she and her sister, Linda, moved out of the family home so that they could support their family. She had a keen intellect and spent her life as a passionate learner.

In January 1963, she married Roger L Mason of Sydney Nova Scotia; they lived briefly in California and backpacked for 6 months throughout South East Asia, Australia and New Zealand. They went on to travel at every opportunity throughout their lives. They subsequently moved to Nova Scotia where they lived in Halifax, Truro, and Lunenburg County.

Margaret was pre-deceased by her brother Kenneth and her sister Brenda.

She is survived by her husband, Roger; her children, Hilary (Joy Dixon, Vancouver), Peter (Anita Andriani, Ottawa) and Eric (Nancy Dobson, Dartmouth); her grandchildren, Joshua and Finn, and her sisters, Linda Webster (Harry), Beverley Perrault (William), Sharon Wery (Raymond), Lois Northcliffe and Gaylene Buccino (Lou), her brother Richard (Patricia Reid), and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2pm on April 15, 2016 at St. John's Anglican Church in Lunenburg. Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Taoist Tai Chi Society of Canada, the Anat Baniel Method Foundation of San Rafael California, or to the charity of your choice. Random acts of kindness would also be appropriate.
