Obituary:
The family of Leo J. Gould Jr. is heartbroken to share of his passing on October 1st, 2015 at the age of 48 due to complications of cancer at the Colchester East Hants Health Center. After finishing school in in his hometown of Truro, he attended Business College in Halifax and worked for Trans Canada Credit in PEI, Truro, and Antigonish. He then moved on to Village Hyundai, where he worked in the Parts Dept., Leasing and Sales. After a few temporary positions in order to provide for his family, he started at Raco and spent 7 years learning more about the automotive parts business. Since 2009, Leo ventured into self-employment and worked from home in After Market Auto Parts Distribution. He enjoyed representing Transit Auto Parts and seeing his customers, of whom many had become close friends, in Atlantic Canada. He spent many years weight lifting at the Aerobic Gym and the YMCA, which was where he met his wife to be. His favourite days were spent with his children, playing soccer, badminton, telling stories and being at the cottage. It gave him much joy to be washing his Mini Coopers (or any vehicle for that matter) and mowing the lawn. He was gentle, patient and funny, well respected by coworkers, and had the most amazing integrity and work ethic. His proudest accomplishment was his children and he never hesitated to tell the nurses about them. He met the challenges that cancer threw at him head on and never complained. Chemo day was the new ‘date day’ for us. He may have lost the war but he never gave up. The best compliment came from Dr. Smith when she said she would think of him as Frank Sinatra…he did it his way and classy. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His body has left behind his wife and best friend of 19 years: Rene (Smith); children, Erin and Taryn; parents, Beverly (Cameron) Gould and Leo Joseph Gould Sr.; cousins, Alex MacLean (who was more like a brother), Denice (Vince) Parker, John (Sonya) Gould, Joe (Wendy) Gould, Paul Tingley, Faye (Russell) Hamilton, Kathy (Bobby) Faulkner, Val (Harry) Breimer; numerous aunts and uncles, and his brother-in-law Bruce (Elizabeth) Smith and nephew Jeremy, as well as Ivan, his loyal cat, who misses their chats terribly. His spirit is now reunited with his father-in-law, Stuart Smith; grandparents, Elizabeth and Ralph Gould, Florence and George Cameron; uncles, Ralph Gould and David Gould. The family wishes to thank Dr. Srivatsa, Dr. Singh, Dr. K. McGibney, Dr. N. Bower, Dr. N. Lamond, and Dr. C. Giacomantonio and the caring nurses of 3rd floor and ICU, Raj Makkar, and his staff of the respiratory and chemo departments. We are grateful for the help of the VON team, Dr. D. Henderson, and Dr. C. Smith of Palliative Care. The kindness of many friends and family over the last 15 months has been remarkable…thank you from the bottom of our hearts. A Celebration of Life will be held at Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro on Wednesday, October 7th from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Private family burial will be on Thursday, October 8th in the Bible Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may...
